Last week I told you Grok Bot might be AI's iPhone moment. Turns out I wasn't the only one who thought it was worth a look.

A few days after that email went out, a fellow Redefiner named Larry reached out.

He'd read the post, got curious, and actually tried the thing.

So I wanted to walk you through what happened, because it's a pretty honest look at what setting this up actually feels like.

AND I have a study guide to help you learn Grok Bot if you’re interested in trying it too..

Larry Gives It a Shot

Larry runs his own business and has been using Claude for a while, Cowork specifically, to automate a few tasks. But Grok Bot was a different animal, and he told me straight up he felt a little lost getting started. Cursor plus Grok Bot together, for someone who's never touched either, is not exactly a smooth on-ramp.

"I'm using Claude at the moment and Cowork has helped me automate a few tasks, but nothing like GB seems to offer. I'm super curious about trying out GB but feeling a bit lost with it."

— Larry, in his email to me

So I sent him two things: a video from a YouTuber who's genuinely good at explaining Grok Bot, and my personal study notebook where I've been dumping everything I've learned about it (more on that in a second).

"It's a bit clunky using Cursor AND Grok Bot, but I managed to make it happen, tried out Grok Bot and liked it. I was able to get an idea of it's capabilities right before they slapped me with a Pro paywall."

— Larry, a couple days later

He's holding off on upgrading until he sees how things go with a few clients this week. Smart move.

But here's the part I really liked. Along the way, he set up his own AI chief of staff:

"I did take your advice and created a Chief of Staff I named Lawrence! haha"

Bingo!

That's the whole game with this stuff. It stops being "a tool" the second you name it.

Good News: It Got Cheaper

Right after last week's email went out, xAI quietly lowered the price of entry. You no longer need the $200/month plan just to get access to Grok Bot:

  • $20/month via Cursor Pro

  • $100/month via SuperGrok Plus (My Plan)

It’s changed a few times in the last 7 days.

That's usually a sign a price drop just kicked adoption into gear.

The Notebook I'm Opening Up to You

Whenever I get into something new, I don't read one article and call it good. I watch a pile of videos, read everything I can find, and dump it all into a Google NotebookLM notebook as I go. That's just how I get up to speed on anything, and it means by the end I've got a running archive I can turn into reports, mind maps, or quiz myself with later.

I've been doing that with Grok Bot since it launched. I'm calling it my Grok Bot Study Guide, and since I already built it for myself, there's no reason not to hand it to you too.

Here it is…
