Is Your Job Really the Safety Net You Think It Is?
Busting The Myth of the "Safe Job" And Avoiding The Kill Shot.
Let's get real.
You've probably heard that a steady job is the ultimate safety net, right?
But is it?
Spoiler alert: It's not, and here's my story to prove it.
The Kill Shot
For 17 years, I worked in a cubicle, getting one paycheck from one company that was at the mercy of one boss until she let me go (long story).
Just like that, that ultimate safety net was gone.
Now imagine if that job was my one and only source of income.
Freaky right?
It is what I call the ‘Kill Shot’-
KILL SHOT = losing your one job = F#@K!
“Don't put all your eggs in one basket.”
But you know what saved me?
The Life Saver
My side gigs.
I was constantly building out little side projects.
I had a freelance client and some music-related projects bringing in a few bucks
These side incomes have helped me through my lay-off and are still providing me with paychecks from 10+ income sources to this day.
Not to mention they’ve helped me live a much more interesting life than the one I had sitting in the same cubicle for 17 years.
Why I'm Sharing This With You
Look, I've been down the money-making rabbit hole, testing and trying all sorts of ways to pull in some extra cash.
Each failure?
Let's just say it was a masterclass in what not to do.
But I’ve also hit some home runs and helped friends and clients turn their finances around.
There's nothing that pumps me up more than helping someone write their own "from rags to riches" tale.
So here's my thought:
Why make the same slip-ups I did when you can stand on my shoulders and reach for the stars?
Think of it as skipping the school of hard knocks and going straight to graduation.
That's why I've got an idea for you - a fast way to find some income streams while dodging all the bumps and hurdles I had to jump over.
Want to See How I Actually Did This?
Look, I could give you more high-level tips about making money online, but let me show you something real instead.
I wrote up exactly how I went from a $40K cubicle job to making $10K+ months starting with just a blog and newsletter. Fantasy football, guitar lessons, and zero experience - the whole weird journey.
It's all here - the failures, the first $500 day, and how you can do it way easier now with today's tools.
Don't wait for the 'Kill Shot' to realize you need a better plan. See what's possible when you stop waiting and start building.
Dancin’ In The Dark
This song should light up your mind with memories if you were alive in the 80’s.
It certainly does for me.
But I never fully appreciated this song until I started performing it.
For me, it is about the conversation you have in your own head about breaking out of the monotony of life.
I get up in the evenin'
And I ain't got nothin' to say
I come home in the mornin'
I go to bed feelin' the same way
I ain't nothin' but tired
Man, I'm just tired and bored with myself
It’s about a desperate restlessness that burns in your gut when you’re not satisfied with where you are in life.
Messages keeps gettin' clearer
Radio's on and I'm movin' 'round my place
I check my look in the mirror
Wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face
Man, I ain't gettin' nowhere
I'm just livin' in a dump like this
There's somethin' happenin' somewhere
Baby, I just know that there is
Take a listen now and really listen to the lyrics.
If that is what you are feeling, not happy with where you are in life, then it is time to do something about it.
You can’t start a fire without a spark.
Otherwise, that quiet desperation will never leave. It will eat at you and eventually turn to regret.
Stay on the streets of this town
And they'll be carvin' you up alright
What’s your spark?
Let’s start a fire,
Corey
